• Installation of new traffic lights for the signalised pedestrian crossing.
• Installation of a new stormwater gully pit and connecting culvert to an existing pit to manage kerb flow volume at the crossing.
• Minor footpath widening on the Southern side of Vulture St and installation of new kerb and channel to suit.
• Installation of kerb ramps to the crossing in Vulture St and also the Western side of Withington St.
• Replacement of sections of existing water services and sewer connections where they cross proposed new stormwater reinforced concrete box culverts.
• Works on live assets.
• Cold plane and asphalt resurfacing of the pavement within the extent of the works; and
• Provision of signs and line marking.

As one of Brisbane’s busiest roads, complex traffic management plans were implemented to provide safe and non-disrupted travel throughout the duration of the project. Maintaining pedestrian and vehicle access to adjacent property came as a challenge, however, it was effectively handled ensuring network performance continued at an acceptable level. This same consideration for the local area continued into our concern for noise pollution, with all disrupting activities kept to a minimum and within operational hours.

The completion of this upgrade greatly improves the safety for both the pedestrians and vehicles traveling through the local area. The introduction of the signalised crossing both slows cars moving along the road and provides an accessible place to cross along a busy road.
