The works to upgrade the Sludge Dewatering System and Biosolids Out-Loading Facility at the Murrumba Downs STP include detailed design, construction and installation and commissioning and proof of performance testing. 

The detailed design includes: 

• Walkways, platforms and stairs 
• Structural building and design to house essential and supporting equipment  
• Connections to existing site services  
• Concrete works 
• General Layout 
• Mechanical and piping 
• Hydraulic design 
• Electrical instrumentation and controls 
• DeltaV DCS updates 
• SID, HAZOp, Design report, equipment/instrument/cable schedules 
• Hazardous area verification and update of site dossier 

The construction and installation involves: 

• All temporary works and liaison with operations  
• Construction of new mechanical, electrical, civil and structural infrastructure  
• Fabrication, trial assembly, testing, supply, delivery to site, installation and commissioning of all equipment 
• Installation of supplied materials and equipment 
• Decommissioning and disposal of redundant infrastructure  
• All other works to facilitate the construction and ongoing operation of the Sludge Dewatering System and the Biosolids Out-loading Facility.  

The project team is working closely with Unitywater to carefully stage and manage works to ensure the plant remains operational for as long as possible and to minimise disruption to the Unitywater operations team and the community of Southeast Queensland that is reliant on this facility.  

The upgrades will improve the wastewater treatment for communities in Southeast Queensland and increase processing capacity to cater for the future growth in the area.
