Abergeldie begins construction to upgrade the Mardi Water Treatment Plant

Abergeldie is pleased to announce it has commenced construction works to upgrade the Mardi Water Treatment Plant which will provide up to 160 million litres of high-quality drinking water each day to over 200,000 Central Coast locals. This follows the award of the D&C contract in July 2023. Through the Restart Safe and Secure Water Program, the NSW Government will invest $6.85 million into the project, with Central Coast Council contributing over $75 million, to secure the region’s water future.

The scope of work involves the addition of a Dissolved Air Flotation unit process, chemical dosing and other modifications and enhancements to the existing Water Treatment Plant. Central Coast Council, Director of Water and Sewer, Jamie Loader said “This is the largest and most ambitious water infrastructure project undertaken by Council since the Mardi to Mangrove pipeline completed in 2011.”

CEO Mark Bruzzone said “We’re excited to be collaborating with Central Coast Council to deliver this important infrastructure project. Our selection to deliver this project shows confidence in our collaborative approach and expertise in delivering complex, high quality utility projects that help to build better communities.”

Construction is expected to be completed in 2025, weather permitting.
