In progress

Abergeldie has been engaged by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to replace the Mandagery Creek Bridge. The new bridge will improve road safety with wider lanes and better approaches that adhere to current structure and width standards.

Scope of works

The works include:

  • Demolition of existing concrete girder bridge.
  • Construction of a new 70.2m long bridge over Mandagery Creek with a single carriageway and 3.5m lane in each direction with 1m shoulder.
  • Reconstruction of approach roads to widen the eastern and western approaches.
  • Construction of a deck level.
  • Construction of a pedestrian footpath on the northern side of the bridge to improve pedestrian access to the town centre.
  • Ancillary works including subsurface drainage, safety barriers, guideposts, pavements and signposting.

Complexity

The Mandagery Creek Bridge serves as a main link route between Parkes and Orange. The team has been collaborating with key stakeholders to minimise disruption to local commuters and road users. To maintain traffic flow, the team have been working with various time restrictions operating in planned courses, with one lane open to maintain traffic flow.

Community benefits

The new Mandagery Creek Bridge will provide a safe and reliable route with widened lanes and approaches capable of taking High Mass Limit vehicles. The improved structure will enhance accessibility for commuters travelling between Orange and Parkes and Manildra locals travelling in and out of the town centre, with the footpath providing safe pedestrian and cyclist access.
