March 2020 Update

The annual Trailwalker Melbourne event, scheduled to be held from 27-19 March, has been cancelled by Oxfam Australia in accordance with State and national measures to contain the transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The decision is in line with State and Federal government strategies to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Australia.

As of 16 March 2020, a State of Emergency has been declared in Victoria banning all non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people, which followed advice issued by the Federal Government. While of course the decision to cancel is disappointing, the health, safety and wellbeing of participants, volunteers and staff is Oxfam’s paramount concern.

If any individual wishes to request a refund of a donation they will need to personally contact Oxfam Australia.

Melbourne Takes on the Oxfam Trailwalker Challenge

This year will be the first time our Melbourne team takes on the Oxfam 100km challenge along the suburbs of Melbourne. The 2020 Melbourne trail kicks off on 27 March in the beautiful Endeavour Hills, winding its way through the densely forested Dandenong Ranges and along the picturesque Mullum and Yarra  Trails  as you approach the Heidelberg Finish Line.

The team has been training over the past couple of months to prepare for the challenge. Although a test of endurance, the Oxfam trailwalker is more about building better communities by raising funds for those in need. At Abergeldie, we are fortunate that we are in a position to help others, and Oxfam is another way in which we can give back to our local communities. This year, we are proud that our Melbourne team is taking on a challenge that is equally mentally and physically demanding to assist Oxfam in tackling poverty.

Our Melbourne team walkers are:

  • Matt Hibbert
  • Fran Clancy
  • Kris Greenaway
  • Matt Borradale

The team will be supported by a dedicated crew who will meet our walkers at every touch point with food, drinks and, equally important, moral support and words of encouragement.

Our support crew includes:

  • Stefan Foster
  • Bill Porter
  • Michael Papagrigoriou
  • Jack Allsopp
