2025 was another incredible year for Abergeldie, a year focused on strengthening our foundations and positioning the business for future success and growth. A key milestone was welcoming J. Murphy and Sons as a strategic partner. Their minority stake has brought international expertise while preserving our status as one of Australasia’s largest majority locally owned contractors.
We continued to expand and develop our team, welcoming 200 new people into the Abergeldie family. Investing in our people remained a priority, highlighted by the launch of our inaugural two-year Graduate Program, designed to help emerging professionals build hands-on experience and technical capability. Another major investment was the rollout of Procore across our business, giving our teams a single connected platform to streamline project management and improve collaboration.
Our teams completed several key projects this year, including the Raising London Circuit project, Sandstone Pedestrian Tunnel and Burley Griffin Way Bridge Replacement at Wallendbeen.
Significant progress was made on several critical infrastructure projects, including the New Dubbo Bridge, Medlow Bath Upgrade, Castle Hill Recycled Water Resource Recovery Facility Compliance Upgrade project, upgrades at the Mardi Water Treatment Plant, the Parsley Bay Pump Station, the Bribie Island and Caboolture South STP Renewal works and the Southern Highlands Overtaking Opportunities Main Works, among others.
Our collaborative partnerships across Australia and New Zealand continued to be a key part of our success. This included work delivered through the West Region Delivery Team for Sydney Water, the Safety Focused Performance Joint Venture for Melbourne Water, the Abergeldie, BMD and KBR Joint Venture for South East Water and the Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture on Watercare’s Central Interceptor project. We also continued to deliver work through other framework contracts, including the Maroochydore STP Upgrade Program for Unitywater, the Asset Renewals and Replacement Program for WaterNSW, as well as ongoing work for Watercare’s Asset Upgrades and Renewals Program and Auckland Council Healthy Waters.
This year also brought well-deserved recognition for our people and projects. We celebrated the return of the Abergeldie Excellence Awards, recognising exceptional contributions within our business. We were also honoured to receive industry recognition, including finalist honours at the Civil Contractors Federation NSW Earth Awards for the New Intercity Fleet AC Feeders Stage 2 upgrade and Mandagery Creek Bridge and at the Civil Contractors Federation QLD Earth Awards for the Merrimac Treatment Plant. We also received a Highly Commended for the Churchill East Pump Station at the Civil Contractors New Zealand Hirepool Excellence Awards. In addition, we celebrated Jure Starcevic’s win as Site Supervisor of the Year at the Civil Contractors Federation QLD Excellence Awards, and the Alfred Street Bridge was awarded an IPWEA Engineering Excellence Award.
We also secured several key projects, including the Hill Road Upgrade, the Bridge over the Lachlan River at Warroo, the Stapylton Sewerage Network Upgrade, the Pitt Town Bypass, Stages 1A and 2–4 of the West Dapto Road Upgrade, the Railway Terrace Upgrade at Schofields, and the Belmont Wastewater Treatment Works Inlet Works H2S Management Upgrade.
Beyond projects, we continued to support the communities where we live and work. A highlight was re-signing a five-year sponsorship agreement with Vinnies NSW. We also formed a new partnership with Greening Australia and participated in tree-planting initiatives in Victoria and Queensland. Our people gave generously of their time and energy through events such as the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, City2Surf, Clean Up Australia Day, WaterAid’s gala balls and Walk for Water, the MS Gong Ride, the 7 Bridges Walk, and activities with Greening Australia and Landcare.
As we look ahead, we’re excited to carry this momentum into 2026 and continue delivering the complex infrastructure that builds better communities.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and New Zealand and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
