Dingley Recycled Water Scheme

VIC
South East Water
In progress

Abergeldie, in joint venture with BMD and KBR (ABK), is delivering the Transfer Main and West Connection Network for South East Water’s Dingley Recycled Water Scheme, the first project awarded to the ABK JV under South East Water’s Integrated Planning and Delivery Model.

The works comprise the Transfer Main, Pump Station, and West Connection Network, and form part of a broader 42km recycled water network that will unlock 1.8GL per annum of Class A recycled water for use across the Bayside, Kingston, Greater Dandenong, and Monash local government areas. This will reduce reliance on drinking water supplies and strengthen long‑term water security.

Scope of works

The scope of works includes:

  • Design and construction of the 12km recycled water transfer main and 12.1km of the Dingley West pipeline, using PE pipe.
  • Construction of a booster pump station with associated building, pipework, utilities, and SCADA systems.
  • Installation of meters and valves to manage and monitor flows.
  • Provision for future system expansions.
  • Staged construction in 100 to 200m sections to minimise impacts to residents and businesses.

Supplying recycled water to growing communities

Recycled water delivered through the scheme will support a range of non-potable uses, including irrigation of local parks, sporting ovals, and world-class golf courses, as well as supply to laundromats, market gardens, and nurseries.

Building long-term resilience

By enabling the use of recycled water in place of potable supplies, the scheme supports sustainable growth and responsible water management across the region. The constant demand system has been designed to maintain a reliable supply while optimising pipeline sizes and operational efficiency.

Community focused delivery

Alongside construction, the team has prioritised community engagement, supporting local businesses and residents through initiatives such as café voucher programs and pop-up stalls at farmers markets.
