Abergeldie, in joint venture with BMD and KBR (ABKJV), has successfully delivered the Frankston Floating Covers Rosedale Grove project for South East Water. Located at the Rosedale Grove basin in Frankston South, the project involved removing the existing cover and installing an upgraded floating cover and new dewatering system to improve water quality, site safety, and operational reliability. The upgraded system strengthens protection of treated drinking water prior to distribution by reducing sunlight exposure, controlling algae growth and minimising evaporation.
The scope of works included:
Floating covers play a critical role in maintaining treated water quality before it enters the distribution network and minimise contamination risk while supporting safer and more efficient operations.
The project has modernised the basin infrastructure, delivering a durable cover system designed to extend asset life and improve reliability. The integrated dewatering system enhances rainfall and surface water management, supporting environmental protection and strengthening the resilience of the local water network.
