In progress

Abergeldie is working with Transport for NSW to deliver the Hill Road Upgrade, a key infrastructure project that will improve connectivity between Parramatta Road, the Carter Street Precinct, Sydney Olympic Park and surrounding areas. The project will ease congestion, improve road safety, and enhance active transport links.

Scope of Works

The project involves comprehensive upgrades including:

  • Upgrading intersections at Parramatta Road, Birnie Avenue, Bombay Street, the M4 Western Motorway eastbound off-ramp, and Hill Road.
  • Modifying the Hill Road and John Ian Wing Parade intersection to include a new fourth approach via Stockyard Boulevard and additional lanes in all directions.
  • Widening Hill Road and John Ian Wing Parade to accommodate increased traffic capacity.
  • Widening and signalising the eastbound M4 Motorway exit ramp and enhancing bridge pier protection.
  • Constructing new shared user paths and upgrading existing ones along Hill Road.

Enhancing connectivity and safety

The Hill Road Upgrade will deliver long-term benefits by reducing travel times, improving heavy vehicle access, and enhancing safety and efficiency for all road users. New shared pathways will strengthen links between Parramatta Road, Carter Street, and Stockyard Boulevard, supporting sustainable transport options for the community and cater for future growth.

Meeting environmental standards

To support environmental outcomes on the project, the team is actively working to ensure sustainable practices are embedded into project delivery. As part of the early road works, 60 branches from a eucalyptus scoparia (willow gum) were carefully removed and donated to Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park. Delivered directly to the Koala enclosure with the help of the Park's Koala Keeper, the fresh foliage became an immediate food source for the resident koalas, demonstrating the team's commitment to sustainable project delivery.
