Abergeldie is collaborating with Sydney Water to deliver new wastewater infrastructure including a new pump station at Parsley Bay to stop the release of raw wastewater into the ocean. The Refresh Vaucluse and Diamond Bay project will improve water quality on the Vaucluse Peninsula, protecting public health and iconic Sydney Harbour beaches. Untreated wastewater will be redirected from one of the last remaining ocean outfalls and transferred via new pipelines to the Bondi Water Resource Recovery Facility to be treated before being safely released.
The work includes:
Renewing the wastewater system in Vaucluse and Diamond Bay offers multiple benefits – improving water quality in the harbour and protecting the health of the community and marine ecology.
Parsley Bay is a much-loved community reserve and Sydney Water has worked extensively with the local community, key stakeholders and Council to consult on the design of the new pump station, manage project impacts and respond to community interest.
Construction work started in June 2024 and the project team continues to work closely with Sydney Water and Woollahra Council to monitor, manage and respond to community requests for information.
Once completed (late 2026), the new pump station and supporting infrastructure will provide a permanent, long-term solution to the management of wastewater in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
