Abergeldie worked closely with Sydney Trains to deliver the Seven Hills Station Canopy project. This innovative canopy improves station accessibility during adverse weather conditions, significantly improving the overall experience for public transport users. The fabrication and installation of the canopy was completed on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to rail commuters.

Scope of works

The works included:

  • Fabrication and installation of a canopy over the railway station’s central platform.
  • Construction of underground substructures.
  • Construction of service connections.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Sydney Trains rail safe working requirements, including the presence of a Rail Protection Officer during on-site work.

Minimising disruption to commuters

The project required the fabrication and partial assembly of the canopy off-site, at the Abergeldie workshop in Regents Park.

The majority of work on site was then completed whilst the station remained open to the public, with a limited number of tasks to be completed during scheduled weekend rail possession periods.

Enhanced experience for public transport users

Commuters now experience improved accessibility during adverse weather conditions, providing a more comfortable and convenient transport experience.
