Abergeldie has been selected by Unitywater to deliver the Caboolture South Recycled Water Disinfection Facility Project. The project involves a conversion/recommissioning of the former South Caboolture Water Reclamation Plant (WRP), which is currently a decommissioned asset owned by Unitywater.
The scope of works includes a new wet weather bypass, recycled water pump station, chlorine closing building and UV pump station and disinfection, along with the refurbishment of chlorine contact tanks, media filters and a recycled water reservoir.
Unitywater Executive Manager Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions Daniel Lambert said these works and the new disinfection facility were critical for the Wamuran Irrigation Scheme.
“Our Wamuran Irrigation Scheme will deliver about 2.6 gigalitres of Class A recycled water each year to farms in Wamuran for irrigation. It provides a year-round, reliable water supply for growers and reduces the nutrient discharge into the Caboolture River, so it’s a win for the community and environment,” he said.
“With increased loads into our sewerage system from the growing population, we must ensure our infrastructure meets the needs of our communities.”
